What is Belkyra?
Also known as Kybella in the USA, Belkyra (deoxycholic acid) is the only proven injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the area under the chin.

How does it work?
The active ingredient in Belkyra is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Belkyra destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

How many sessions will I need?

Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. During your consultation, Dr Norup will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals.

Each Belkyra treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments in total.

When will I see results and how long will it last?
You will start to see results after two treatments and the results are permanent. This is because once destroyed, the cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired goal.

Are there any side effects?
Generally, this treatment has minimal downtime, however, Dr Norup will advise you in detail about any potential side effects during your initial consultation.
