The Norup Clinic is now able to offer assisted weight loss using Mounjaro® / Wegovy® semaglutide injections, to help you to lose weight and keep it off.
The latest development in prescription weight loss, semaglutide can help those with a BMI of 27 or more to lose weight, in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet and increased activity.
What is my BMI?
Firstly, you will need to complete a questionnaire to ensure that you are eligible for treatment. Applicants must be 40 – 70 years of age. Semaglutide is not suitable for some patients with existing conditions and may cause serious side effects, so this process is designed to explore whether this treatment will be a good fit for you.
If you are approved for the Programme you will receive an email confirmation and we will contact you to arrange your initial consultation.
Semaglutide injections work in the same way as appetite hormones, reducing appetite so you eat fewer calories and therefore lose weight.
“In a 16 month medical study of 1,961 adults1 living with obesity or excess weight with a related medical problem along with reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity:”
In the same study, about 1 in 3 adults with a starting weight of 105 kg achieved even better results with a 20% weightloss = 21 kg
As you can see, semaglutide may help you finally lose weight and keep it off*
Our aim is to guide you through your programme providing a safe, professional and supported environment. We are CQC registered and operate within strict guidelines for your wellbeing.
Once you are approved for treatment, your programme will include an initial in-person consultation at our Esher Clinic. We will discuss your aims and expectations, record your starting weight, BMI and key measurements to provide a benchmark to measure progress against.
We will lead you through an initial 4 month plan gradually increasing the dose to allow you to steadily become more accustomed and tolerant to the product. Should you experience nausea we can prescribe anti-nausea medication etc… and offer reassurance. This ensures that you have legitimate genuine products at the safe and correct dosage with continuity of availability – something which has proven problematic for some clinics and providers due to the huge demand.
We provide nutritional and exercise guidance, plus mentoring and motivation. You will visit for a weekly weigh-in and have an opportunity to discuss how you are feeling and any concerns or questions.
If required, we offer additional blood test screening to identify possible medical traits that may impact on your weightloss e.g. hormones or diabetes.
If semaglutide proves successful for you, you can continue receiving injections for a further period or indefinitely. Alternatively, you may like to discuss alternative methods of maintaining a healthy weight once you have achieved your goal.
So you can take advantage of the latest weight loss methods safely, and with peace of mind, for the best possible results.
*Please note:
You must complete the questionnaire and be deemed eligible for treatment.
Once you been approved. A full consultation is required to further check your current health and any existing conditions which may be a risk. These include:
Side effects
It’s important to be aware of the possible known side which effects may include: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, and runny nose or sore throat.
Effectiveness
If you do not see any weightloss within 4 weeks, despite following instructions and a calorie controlled diet coupled with some daily activity, then this treatment may not be effective for you. At this point we can discuss next steps such as blood tests, hormone profiling and metabolic issues to see what may be the root cause and look to recommend alternative options.
1 Results are from a 68-week medical study of adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) and adults with excess weight (BMI ≥27) who also had weight-related medical problems including high blood pressure or high cholesterol. People with type 2 diabetes were excluded. Both groups received instruction for a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity. 7% of people taking Wegovy® (92 people) left the medical study due to side effects, compared to 3.1% of people taking placebo (20 people).
