The treatment

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the face to gently numb the skin. There are many different varieties of dermal filler with different densities which are used to achieve specific effects. They are applied using a fine needle or a cannula (to avoid bruising and swelling) to gently distribute the filler into exactly the right place. The effects usually last up to a year.
