Regeneration & skin longevity in 2026

2026 will be the year that regenerative treatments move to centre stage as the leading principle in aesthetics.

The old-fashioned surgical facelift is now a thing of the past and considered an extreme measure consigned to the most challenging cases. In its place is new thinking and an exciting new array of treatments.

The regenerative concept

At the forefront of the wellness industry is a drive for longevity and exemplary health and fitness, coupled with the idea of bio-hacking – deliberately tailoring your lifestyle and diet to achieve new wellness heights. Social media is full of innovations, ideas, supplements and science-backed diet and exercise regimes to a degree never seen before. The aim long term is simply to be your best self – skin health and visible ageing is a big part of that picture.

Skin cell regeneration is the key to skin health and longevity. What’s more it is non-invasive, organic in its processes and gives natural looking results.

The art of ageing well

Your appearance and how you look; more specifically how old and how well you look is an important part of the age-well philosophy. So, where once you might have had a nip and tuck, or more recently a bit of Botox or dermal filler to freeze muscles that create wrinkles or lift/fill sagging, now the treatment starts at the cause.

Regenerative treatments seek to stimulate new cell growth to replace the declining skin cells which diminish naturally over time – leading to skin thinning, laxity, and fine wrinkling – the visible signs of ageing.

The key focus for skin regeneration is:

Collagen = structure
Collagen is the main load-bearing structural protein in skin. Collagen fibrils are the primary reason skin has tensile strength (resistance to pulling forces). When the collagen network is healthy, dense and well-organised, skin behaves more “springy” and less “crepey.”

Elastin = stretch/snap
Elastin enables skin to stretch during facial expression or mechanical stress and then snap back after. Clinically, this contributes to “bounce,” suppleness, and resistance to permanent creasing and wrinkling. This is the ‘laxity’ factor. When elastin depletes cheeks and jowls etc. begin to sag.

Adipose tissue – volume, cushioning and healing
Facial ageing, or loss of volume due to dieting is linked to deflation of the deeper structure-defining fat compartments of the face, plus the shifting of more superficial fat pads. This changes the contours of the face – flattening of cheeks, deepening of folds, jowling, etc. Dermal and sub-dermal fat cells stimulate adipose tissue growth, which help to replace lost volume and also promote an anti-inflammatory and regenerative stem cell driven response.

At the leading edge

At the Norup Clinic we have been passionately prioritising regenerative therapies for a long time. Dr Norup intuitively recognised early that this approach was the innate and honest way forward for aesthetics treatments and began exploring the science, techniques and products driving these theories. In response she has now developed and has been working with a protocol of regenerative treatments, which clients in the know have been experiencing and appreciating.

It is worth noting that Dr Norup has deliberately avoided some popular corrective procedures that are non-regenerative and have only short-term benefits (and potentially long-term side effect).
Dr Norup is very much an advocate of regenerative and cell promoting treatments to create safe, natural results.
